TITOLO COMPLETO: The Code of Terpsichore: a Practical and Historical Treatise on the Ballet, Dancing, and Pantomime; with a Complete Theory of the Art of Dancing; Intended as well for the Instructions of Amateurs as the Use of Professional Persons. By C. Blasis. Translated under the Author's Immediate Inspection by R. Burton.

Il testo, tradotto sotto la supervisione dello stesso Blasis da R. Burton, constava di 548 pagine, alle quali si aggiungevano la traduzione del  Traité Elémentaire, Théorique et Pratique de l'Art de la Danse (vedi) (il testo del 1820,  leggermente rimaneggiato, è intitolato Theory of Theatrical Dancing) e le 14 tavole dell'edizione milanese ridisegnate ed integrate con due nuove illustrazioni sulle danze di società; inoltre conteneva 22 pagine di musica composta dalle due sorelle di Carlo, Virginia e Teresa, che portavano il numero complessivo di pagine a 588. 
Il testo offriva un profilo storico dell'evoluzione della danza nelle diverse epoche e culture (Rise and Progress of Dancing), contenuti e stili della pantomima (On Pantomime, and the Studies necessary for a pantomimic performer), i principi di composizione dei balletti (The composition of Ballets), libretti di coreografie di Blasis (Programmes, containing examples of every species of ballets), le regole della danza di società (Private dancing) e, nella seconda parte, la teoria della danza teatrale, Theory of Theatrical Dancing, in cui veniva riproposto, adattato al diverso contesto, il Traité élémentaire pubblicato a Milano otto anni prima.

Due nuove edizioni Roret, ampiamente rimaneggiate, apparvero nel 1866 e nel 1884 con il titolo Nouveau Manuel Complet de la Danse (vedi).

Un'edizione in inglese apparve nel 1888: The Theory of Theatrical Dancing with a Chapter on Pantomime. Edited from Carlo Blasis' Code of Terpsichore, with the original Plates by Stewart D. Headlam, London, Frederick Verinder, 1888. Constava tuttavia solo di estratti del testo originale inglese.
