COMPLETE TITLE: The Lives and Characters Of the most Eminent Actors and Actresses of Great Britain and Ireland, from Shakespear to the Present Time. Interspersed with a General History of the Stage. By Mr. Theophilus Cibber. Part I. To which is Prefixed, A Familiar Epistle from Mr. Theophilus Cibber to Mr. William Warburton
Online text: GOOGLE BOOKS (title page: The Life and Character Of that Excellent Actor Barton Booth, Esq; Sometime One of the Patentees and Directors of His Majesty's Company of Comedians. By Mr. Theophilus Cibber).

Notwithstanding the title the work contains only The Life of Barton Booth (in the intention of the author, the life of Booth was to be followed by those of Mr. Wilks and Mrs. Oldfield). The Epistle alludes to Warburton's attacks on Colley Cibber.

The text was also published in the same year in Dublin by Abraham and John Bradley.
